My Maths Slideshow

   🏡Today my post is all about 'My awesome trip around NZ!'🚗

On the first week of Term 4, we started on a reading and maths slideshow. These screenshots were taken in my Maths slideshow. I love doing messy maths, and this time, Ms Sands said it's sort of like it, but easier. We had to plan a trip across NZ in 11 days. It only took me one week to finish, but I need to recalculate the total time. It was really fun deciding what to do and where to stay. For the hotels, it's not always worth it to do the cheapest one. Once I came across a hotel and a motel that were 10$ apart. In the end I chose the hotel because it's A LOT better than the plain motel.

🐠 My Not-so-Creative writing 🐟

                          👦 Hi Awesome Audience! Today my post is about... Creative writing!👩
Last Week, We did Creative Writing about flying fish, and 'Flying-Chunk-of-Earth-and-White house-plane'. We had to do moment in time description, but I found it sort of hard to make it not a story. I still like it though. Next time I do this sort of thing, I'll make sure I describe it really well and not turn it into a story. Overall I LOOOOOOOOOOVE Creative writing. I can't wait to do Creative writing next week!!!!!

For Cybersmart, we put our best understanding of blog commenting onto a slideshow. We had to start off with putting in someone's blog that we were going to comment on. Then we started with a greeting, positive, thoughtful, helpful and then sign-off. After the sign off we had to make an acronym... then a Screencastify! Whilst Everything else was fine, it was a bit hard to think about a word to do for the acronym... but I did get it in the end! I hope you like it!

❄ Winter Wonderland! ⛄

🏔 Hi Everyone! It's Hilary and this time my post is about...🌨

A camp poem!!! Everybody in Te Waka Ako had to design a  poem about camp. Our camp was skiing/snowboarding. My poem is called Winter Wonderland and it is about me and the mountain. It is related to our camp since it is about a mountain and winter. I will put a drawing at the end for you to look at if the photo is not clear. When our teacher Ms Sands told us that the last line has to rhyme I suddenly ran out of ideas. And so now the result isn't that good. But I learnt that in some rhyming poems the last line of the last verse doesn't have to rhyme.  I did find doing the drawings and colouring easy though.  I hope you like it!

🌟...The Magical World of Crazy Science! 🎩

                               💚Hello World! My post is about the Magical World of Crazy Science!💜
Today (AKA 11 September 2017) we had a science show in the hall. The show was held by Richard & Robyn. They started off with with three rings. The rings were connected and then taken apart. I'm not going to spoil so you have to guess what each of the tricks are. Then Richard (the main guy) did this trick with some fluffy red balls. He put them in his fingers and more balls appeared then he stuffed it down his shirt and vomited it back up again. And to be honest I don't actually know how this works. Then we had a rocket experiment. In order for this to work you had to have a canister with a push lid. You also need water, plate and antacid. Then you put it together squish the bottle of water and then the rocket will go.

Then we did the nappy experiment. So basically Richard told us to pretend that the cup of yellow water was a baby with pee in it, and the cup with the powder, a nappy. He then poured the water into the cup... Then the water became solid!!!!! Actually it was a more jelly sort of substance. How it worked is because of polymer. He tried to pour it on his head but it wouldn't come out!!!!

Fire!🔥
Then we had a experiment with fire. We had a look at what caused fire. Gas, heat and oxygen. It was so cool! Richard demonstrated afterwards. Then we had a little firework. Richard grabbed the fire and threw it in the air! Swish! A spark flew into the air. 🎇

Water...Different ones💧💦🍧
We also learned about the different types of water, solid, liquid and air. Solid being ice, liquid being water and air being vapour./steam.

Then we experimented with hair dryers and leaf blower. We learnt that shockingly when the leaf blower blows the toilet paper it is actually air molecules causing the toilet paper to move. We also put a ping pong ball on top of a hair dryer and it floats. If you put two it's harder. And if you put a toilet paper roll the air goes through so it doesn't float and if you out a ball through it it will bounce up high because of the pressure.

Bubbles...POP!💥
Then we had a look at bubbles. Most people won't think much about bubbles but, it is actually a very interesting topic. Bubbles are the thinnest things that humans can see with the naked eye. And it reflects a rainbow because of the particles in the air. It was cool when Richard made gigantic bubbles.

End/Reflection
Soon it was the end... but we did have a lot of fun though. My favourite part was the fireworks🎆 because, the toilet paper bit and the bubbles. Lots of the cool science tricks are illusional I think. I wonder what other interesting, wonderful and wacky topics there are that maybe I could work on when I get to Intermediate/High School.

👦👧👨👩👶👸 Hi Guys! Today my post is all about my creation... My fantastic Playground! Suitable for all types of people * (Terms and Conditions apply, listed down below) 👷👵👴👳👲👱👰🙋

Today (AKA the day before camp! Going to Mt Ruapehu) after our fruit break, we did TinkerCad, we had to design a playground. Mine has lots of interesting things and my playground favourites! I hope you like it! By the way, if you want to use TinkerCad, then you should look at your creation from all perspective to get your creation in the right place. Here are some photos and a video:

Mt Ruapehu (the one next to Mt Doom👻👿💀) 🏔

                                       🏔🏂☃ Hi Everyone! My post is about...❄⛄🌨
My Camp, Mt Ruapehu ! I loved Camp so much! You could choose from either skiing or Snowboarding, I chose Skiing. WE all had to start at Happy Valley but some people got ot go to Rock Garden. My group was purple and it was the starter group. More of this information will be down below in the slideshow. At first I was super scared and I couldn't even get both of my skis on! Then the next day after some help from Miss McGrath (and a bit from Zofia/Rauil our ski instructors), Then I could ski by myself without help or poles, I had to hold, my ski poles in front of me and do the Snowplough all the way to the place where Zofia put her skis. Then she taught me how to turn, she said it is very dangerous (I'm not sure whether she was joking or not). She is so funny! On the last try, she said " Hilary and
Death... Episode 1, oh no, it's episode 5." She also has an accent, I'm pretty sure it's Spanish, same as Rauil. After that we had lunch, I hated the lunch packs! I liked last year's way better... do you know why? It's because this year's is all snacks, so instead I bought my own lunch for two days. On first day, I had the worst fall in my life, I fell down on the travellator after tobogganing twice ('cause I got up then fell down again) then a nice lady pulled me up again, I thank her! So that's why I'm NEVER EVER EVER going back on a  toboggan again! We stayed at the Park at National Park. Our cabin was Room 61. Another exciting thing; The school that I'm going to next year was there, it's called Diocesan's School for Girls, also known as DIO.  Only some of the DIO girls went to camp there.  We also went on the chairlifts, it was so much fun! But at the last stop I got bumped by a chairlift because I was too slow. In whole, I loved camp!!!!!!!👩👧👦👨👱👴

Student Toolkits! 👦👧

                                             👬Hi blogging audience! My post is all about...👭
                                                         Student Toolkits! Yes you guessed it!

24 people got chosen to go to the Student Toolkits on Thursday 17th August (obviously) 2017. Some of the people included me, Dora and Joyce, my friends. It was held at New Windsor School. When we first entered we went to the auditorium and got our name badges with our sessions and names on them. There was this SUPER cool coding challenge at first, (I thought it was going to be one of those boring coding challenges, but turns out it wasn't) it was to get Sphero balls around cones and come back, it was a race. Sphero balls are these small robots that light up different colours. I've played with Sphero balls before at MOTAT in Auckland New Zealand. Afterwards we got to go to our first session, it was Powtoon. Powtoon is when you have a slideshow and get to decorate, it is very fun and cool. I might have my slideshow put at the bottom. Our second session was Prodigy. We have already played Prodigy before, I taught my friends how to get a home account because apparently Joyce (who introduced the game to me) doesn't even have a account, why you might ask is because her sister has a account! Joyce is currently level 35 and I am level 26. It was so much fun! After lunch we had a problem solving challenge, it was very boring to watch so I decided to work on my Powtoon. Then we put our name card/ID into a box for the draw, one person from each school got a chromecast, Stevie-lee got it from our school. Then it was time to do the draw for the presenters, you got lots of cool stuff if you were one of the three people to get a goody bag, you got some tape, decorative tape, a photo album and a sphere-o ball!🔮

I felt super excited about it that day, it was so fun! I didn't have any difficulties with anything even when the presenters from Christ the King School didn't lead us through the process and so we did most of the learning. It was very self explanatory.👑

Kahoot it! 😕

💗Hello online world! This is a exclusive post, it's about my Kahoot slide I made with my friends, Joyce and Dora. 💟

I hope that you will learn how to make a Kahoot by the end of this, unless you already have!
The other day, when I was just doing my work, One of our teacher Mr Riceman, called some names and told them to come to the yellow area of our new building, it is quiet space. That is where Mr Riceman told us that we could choose to present either of these two things, Kahoot making or Google slides animation. We chose Kahoot. We had to sort of 'audition' for the presentation part. This is what we call student Toolkits. I hope we get in! Don't you? Anyways, Mr Riceman begged and pleaded Ms Sands to let us work on our presentation in this block, Mr Riceman 'knows'  we'll catch up. So the we made it and colour coded it. (it wasn't much help, but at least I got to decorate the slide!) And as you can see, this post is to make up for the blogging sessions we missed, but it's also because I thought that it would be a good idea. Now this slide was NOT hard to make, BUT it did take a while. I hope you like it! (and the Kahoot about general knowledge on New Zealand and Australia, since we live in New Zealand, that Dora made!)👸👧👩

Learn your Suffixes! 💭 💬

Hi Everyone! Today my post is about Suffixes! I hope you learn something new!

We had a literacy task board and we were allowed to choose a task to do ( unless your teacher tells you to do a task on there) I chose to do a suffixes poster. The poster has some examples of suffixes in it, if it is not enough then there will be a video underneath my work.  I thought that it was quiet easy to do this task, it's just that I needed help from the SUPER annoying song. Otherwise it was completely fine. I hope you don't find the song annoying as much as I do.
An example is a worker, a person who works.

My Very Creative Writing: Watchwood Forest👀🌲

Hi everyone! Today my blog post is about my creative writing I did, it is called: 🌲The girl of the forest

What I did was go onto Pobble 365 and my image was called Watchwood Forest. I found that deciding the title was kind of hard because I didn't know whether to do The girl who survived or The girl who lived, but in the end I decided to do The girl of the forest. Eyes. They lay there, staring at her, deep into her soul.

It was just the most beautiful thing Rose had ever seen, yet not many humans lived long enough to see it. You see, Rose only the most well behaved girl you’d ever seen. It’s not likely for a girl like her to go there right? I mean, the teachers and all the adults tell the kids to never enter the forest, for if you do, you won’t live to see another day. But luckily for Rose that did not happen to her.

Rose was a kind girl, and then and now she always wondered if the so called ‘gruesome creatures of the deadly forest’ could actually be kind. She lay in her bed thinking about the thought, then, suddenly a thought struck her. She knew what she had to do, she slowly crept out of bed and made her way to the hanger where her coat lay. She was ready.

Smart Choices Comic Strip 😎

                         💭Hi Everyone! Today my blog post is about making smart choices online. 💬
I made a comic strip about making smart choices online with my friends, Joyce and Dora, we shared the document so that we could edit and do it together. I was the first baddy😈 ( the one with the messy hair), Dora was the second baddy👹 ( she was the one with the 'beard') and Joyce was the goody two shoes. We were being mean to Joyce (not actually though) and in the end the consequences were grave (not actually going to end up in jail unless you're an adult of course or a fine and if you're a kid then you get a serious telling off, please don't cyberbully!) because we ended up in cyber jail, but we said sorry and we never did it again.😄

My Kahoot! 🌍 Template

Last week in reading, I caught up with my reading group because I wasn't at school for a week or more! I made my Kahoot! template and wrote some questions and I even started my Kahoot!, but sadly I didn't finish it😞, but I did finish my Kahoot! Template. If you can, try to answer some of these questions. ❓

I think I did pretty good seeing as I missed out on a lot. I think that when I try to do something random for my answers, it's actually pretty hard! The questions were easy to think of but the answers weren't.

🍩Hey Everyone! This is a special edition 💎 post. By the way it is Hilary 😊 (even though you already know)😁


WALT use de Bono Thinking Hats to show understanding. We had to write a paragraph about the classroom in each of these speech bubbles. 🗨 My thinking hats have lots of information about what I like about the new classroom, what I don't like, what is creative, what are the facts ('cause after all the facts are facts, you just gotta face them) , what you should do know. Have a look at the information below! By the way if you don't understand what is going on, we are moving ( or rather already moved ) to a new building called Te Waka Ako ( as you can see in the embedded photo which means ), it has very cool furniture and we work together as a Syndicate sometimes, we mostly work in the Hauraki space (which is my space) which is biggest but we can also work in the Red Room. Our classroom is the coolest!!!!👾😎

Maori Seasons 🌞❄🌲🌷

                                 🌞❄🌲🌷Hi everybody, it's Hilary! 🌞❄🌲🌷
We made a google drawing (except I tried the link when I embedded the google drawing so I made it into a google slide THEN I embedded it) about the four seasons in Te Reo Maori and English, I also put a link to a screencastify I made.  I didn't take that long actually, but I had a hard time deciding which font I should use to make it look nice. I found some really nice photos of all the seasons.

Description of the 6 different symbols or shapes you used. Then add the reason why you chose them.   I chose this pattern because it’s Maori but at the same time it’s not and so it’s unique in it’s own way. I chose this pattern  because it’s a common Pacifica pattern. ( which is triangles and fishes)  I chose this pattern because it’s got korus, red and black so it’s Maori.   I chose this pattern because it is a pacifican flower but I made it into this kind of flower so  it isn't a flower anymore and it's more like my own creation.     I chose this pattern because it has all the Maori colours and has korus.  I chose this pattern because I saw something similar to this and I made it into this.

Tooth Slideshow

I did this slideshow from last term, it's about this book that our teacher read, it's called 'The Tooth' and it's super interesting! It's about two boys who are best friends and them finding a dinosaur fossil, I really think that you should read this book! The process of the work was pretty easy and didn't take long but the decorating surprisingly took very long!🍓

Caesar the Anzac bulldog!🐕

This term we read a story about Anzac day, it was called Caesar the Anzac dog. This story is a really interesting story and it's about a bulldog who's a mascot for New Zealand and is a red cross dog but at the end tragedy struck. The questions were mostly really easy and the blog post for Philippa Werry and the Museum was pretty easy too. My favourite part of the story was when the boys named the dog Caesar after Caesar the bulldog!🐶

Dear, ... Moth eaten Diary!

👸 Hi Everyone, it's Hilary here! 👸
Last term (which is Term 1 if you didn't know) we used our 5 senses (👀👂👃👄👅) to write a journal in our diary, we had to pretend that we were Anzac Soldiers! Hope you like it and don't forget to comment!✌😼😀

WALT describe using our senses

	Most of the soldiers were still alive but were all very tired and are sleeping on the ground.  People  are starting to itch because of lice and ticks. Then mice started running everywhere, over people and trying to get into the food.  Lots of people were writing letters to their loved ones but here I am writing in my diary because I have no family.
	Content rustles and the occasional murmur were heard along with other strange unusual noises.  No one was complaining for they knew that there were worst things yet to come. Just a little bit of chatter.
	I was starving, I went to open a tin of corned beef but when I peeled it open it was empty except some ants and bugs scurrying around still searching for food, I wonder if the rats ate them. So instead I have decided to eat some biscuits. I got some and hid them away because I’m a slow eater for if I don’t I’ll starve. They tasted flavourless and hard, nearly chipped my tooth but I’m going to have to get used to it because war won’t end for a very long time. I poured some water into my mouth, I felt the water dribble down my throat, feeling like a desert with rain raining down.
	There was this horrible stench coming from somewhere, it might be some sort of food that is already starting to rot, it might be something probably a body that’s decaying or it could just be because we haven’t washed for a long time. Now the smell was unbearable, it smelt like compost from when we used to garden with Ma.
	I could feel something scuttling  beneath my hand and shifted, the ground was damp and rough.  I felt Ermengarde’s little body squirm under my hand, I patted him gently.
	I felt alone for once, even with  Ermengarde’s warmth against my body. I have a horrible feeling that I won’t make it to the end. I Hope I will live to see the day where I go back home feeling like a hero able to have a family and look after them and make watch them grow.
	I think that I won’t be able to make it.

My trench diary is really long but it's not boring so you won't fall asleep... zzzzzzzz. Anyways, it always makes things interesting if you add descriptive language.
